XMAX ACE REVIEW - NEW PRODUCT RELEASE
(January 2, 2020)
It’s a high quality, well designed, feature packed mid price range Herb Vaporizer that’s definitely worth checking out. We were lucky enough to get our hands on an XMax Ace prior to it’s official release so we put it to the test and here’s what we think.
New Unique Feature...
The newest, most innovative & unique feature of the new XMax Ace is the button operated, self cleaning function. There is a sliding button on the front of the XMax Ace which moves the bottom of the herb chamber up to the top and pushes out the used herbs from the vaporization chamber.
I’ll admit, when we first heard about this function we thought it sounded like bit of a gimmick, but after using the XMax Ace a couple of times you start to wonder why someone hasn’t thought of it before, it’s actually very convenient.
No more constantly looking for the little tool you use to empty out the chamber when you’re finished, it’s not needed anymore at all.
The XMax Ace comes in two different colours / styles, Black carbon or Wood grain, and the frame and outer edges are brushed stainless steel. Both options look good, and the design of the XMax Ace set it apart from other models of herb vaporizers when it comes to style.
When you pick it up you can feel it’s a solid, well constructed, quality vaporizer and it fits comfortably in your hand too.
Fast Heat up time… Precise temperature control..
The XMax Ace claims a 20 second heat up time, with haptic technology that vibrates when it’s reached the selected temperature.
When we timed the actual time it takes to heat up from when it’s first turned on it took 20 seconds to reach 130C, not exactly the ideal temperature for vaping dry herb. I usually set a temperature around 200C - 210C when vaping Dry Herb and the XMax Ace took 35 seconds from cold to reach this temperature. There is also a ‘Boost mode’ function which boosts the maximum temperature up to 255C.
Zirchonia Ceramic mouthpiece & 100% Isolated Airflow…
When inhaling though the XMax Ace there is less draw resistance than most other models we have tried which is a feature we really liked, and the Zirchonia Ceramic mouthpiece does a good job of resisting heat so you don’t burn your lips.
At higher temperatures or during longer sessions the mouthpiece will however heat up a bit, but this is inevitable in those situations and is the same with almost any dry herb vaporizer on the market. If you plan on vaping at high temperatures or for longer periods we would recommend the glass bubbler or water pipe adaptor which are available for the XMax Starry 3.0 and XVape Fog herb vaporizers. We tested these on the XMax Ace and they fit perfectly.
Battery & Mouthpiece...
The swivel style ceramic mouthpiece has strong magnets which attach it to the vaporizer without leaking air in from the edges and the mouthpiece filter is easily removable for cleaning or replacement. Replacement mouthpieces and filters are available to purchase separately.
The Battery in the XMax Ace is an easily removable, 18650, 2600mAh, 3.7v Samsung battery and provides enough charge for repeated use before needing to be recharged. A micro USB charging cable is included in the box and external mains power chargers and spare batteries are available separately.
We conducted a test to see exactly how many sessions the battery would last. The auto shut off timer was set to 5 mins (which doesn't start counting down until it reaches the selected temperature) and in this case was 210C. We let the timer run out and the unit switch off, then waited until the Ace cooled down before we turned it on again.
The XMax Ace lasted for 14 x 5 minute sessions in our 'real world' battery life test, which I think is actually pretty good. That's 70 minutes of useable time before the battery needs recharging when set at 210C.
The XMax Ace has an OLED digital display which shows both the selected and the actual current temperature (which is selectable between degrees fahrenheit or Celcius). The display also has a battery charge indicator and a countdown timer until the XMax Ace turns itself off. The timer is selectable between 5 and 10 minutes which we found useful.
Haptic technology means the XMax Ace will vibrate when it reaches the selected temperature, and when you turn it off (or when it auto turns itself off when the timer runs out).
The chamber is easy to pack and has a large ‘shelf’ that assists with packing without spilling your herbs or requiring the use of a packing tool. The shape of the packing ‘shelf’ is designed very well, and ‘funnels’ the herbs into the chamber, which is actually extremely convenient.
When using the XMax Ace there really is no need to use a packing tool for anything, neither when packing herbs into the chamber or emptying out the used herb. It may seem like a small thing, but it really does make a big difference.
Performance, Acessories & spare parts…
The XMax Ace has some accessories that come with it in the box and a further range of accesories & parts available separately such as replacement mouthpieces, filters and filter screens. We also found that the glass water bubbler and water pipe adaptor for the Xmax Starry 3.0 & XVape Fog vaporizers also fit the Xmax Ace.
Of all the features and specs of the XMax Ace there are a couple of features that in our opinion make this an excellent performing herbal vaporizer.
The low draw resistance when inhaling through the mouthpiece of the Ace is one of the things I personally like the most about this vaporizer. It has the least resistance and is the easiest Dry Herb Vape to inhale through when compared to most of the vapes I have used (and there’s been more than a few!).
We also like the button operated self cleaning function, I’m still surprised at how much I like it, but it’s just so convenient! It’s something that keeps drawing me back to use the XMax Ace.
If you’re like me and use your dry herb vaporizer a lot, or for longer sessions it’s good to be able to easily replace the battery with a fully charged one when the battery runs out of charge and the Xmax Ace has it covered. Combined with a long lasting 2600mAh of battery charge it’s more than enough to see you through.
